My Journey of Building My First Portfolio Website

Why I Started

Building my first portfolio website was one of the first practical projects I took on when I started learning digital marketing. I wanted to create something of my own where I could showcase what I was learning and the projects I was working on.

I chose WordPress because it was something I wanted to understand better. At the beginning, I wasn’t sure how everything would come together, but I was curious to try.

What I Learned

While working on my website, I got hands-on experience with:

  • WordPress and Elementor
  • Creating and arranging different pages
  • Adding buttons and navigation links
  • Creating a contact form with WPForms
  • Organising my portfolio and blog

Working on the website myself helped me understand things that were difficult to understand from lessons alone.

Challenges I Faced

Building the website wasn’t always easy. There were times when I knew what I wanted to change but had no idea where to find the setting.

I had to learn through trial and error along the way.. Instead of leaving them, I searched for solutions, tried different options, and gradually figured things out. With each problem I solved, I became a little more comfortable with WordPress and Elementor.

Looking Ahead

Seeing my first portfolio website come together has been a rewarding part of my digital marketing journey. It may not be perfect, but it represents the skills I have been learning and the effort I have put into improving them.

I still have a lot to learn, and I want to keep adding new projects and improving my website as my skills grow.
